Thanks to the three rocky complexes surrounding Abruzzo, the Atlantic influences are more attenuated than other Italian regions, so in the months of September and October the temperatures fall without sudden peaks.
Spending a day at the seaside is still enjoyable but the weather is ideal for hiking and walks, between valleys and villages.
In September, the average temperatures fluctuate between 25 ° of the coast and 10 ° of the high mountain (Campo Imperatore at 2138 mt).
From north to south the hilly and mountainous Abruzzo offers picturesque and unspoiled landscapes, the ideal setting for long walks without heat of the warmer months.
To the north of Teramo

The landscape in the north is characterized by the Laga Mountains, here Mount Gorzano marks the natural border between Abruzzo and Lazio.
A 1 hour drive from the Agrimare Barba you can reach Ripe di Civitella and from there continue along the path leading to the Gorges of Salinello.
The marked path takes about 2 hours and will lead you through woods and waterfalls.
From Ripe it is possible to visit Civitella del Tronto, famous for its Bourbon fortress, or to overcome in the nearby Marche, in about 30 minutes you will find Ascoli Piceno, an architectural jewel, with a charming square entirely made of travertine marble.
To the west of Teramo
Between Teramo and Aquila stands unmistakable the Gran Sasso with its 2,912 m high.
This area is known as Campo Imperatore, a plateau with heights ranging between 1500 and 1900.
Slopes and alluvial plains alternate for 20 Km offering a wide uncontaminated landscapes.
One of the most suggestive destinations is Rocca Calascio (about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the Agrimare Barba).
The building is a watchtower of medieval times at 1,464 mt, which over the centuries has always had an important function of surveillance between Aquila and Teramo.
The landscape is enriched by the octagonal church of the Madonna della Pietà, built in 1451.
The tower will be open every Sunday in September, for more information visit the site

To the south of Teramo
In the south, a few kilometers from Chieti lies the Parco della Majella.
Of this area we have already suggested Pettorano sul Gizio; The towns and villages to visit are many, from Sulmona to Anversa degli Abruzzi, and there are plenty of natural reserves for excursions such as the Salinello Gorge Reserve.
For an excursion even with the youngest and not too far away from our farm (about 1 hour by car), we suggest the path for the Hermitage of Sant’Onofrio with a starting point in the Brecciarola district of Serramonacesca. Twenty minutes walk around
